Arbonne International
International multi-level marketing company
This article is about the cosmetics company. For the French village, see Arbonne.
Arbonne International, LLC, known as Arbonne, is an international multi-level marketing company founded in 1980 in the United States by Norwegian entrepreneur Petter Mørck. Its product lines include vegan skincare, cosmetics, and nutrition. Arbonne's CEO is Jennifer Orlando, who succeeded Tyler Whitehead in July 2023. Arbonne is headquartered in Irvine, California, US, with US offices in Chatsworth, California, Greenwood, Indiana, Addison, Texas, and international offices in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
History
Founded in Orem, Utah, United States by Mørck in 1980, Arbonne is named after the Swiss village of Arbon. Mørck had worked in the Norwegian skincare industry since 1965. In 1975, feeling the ingredients used were harmful to the skin, he moved to Arbon and started working on his skincare line with Pierre Bottiglieri, an employee of Laboratoires Cosmetiques Arval.
The first headquarters were located in Orem, Utah, moving to Irvine in 1984. Mørck was active in the company until his death in 2008. His son, Stian Mørck, is currently Brand Ambassador. Rita Davenport became the company's first President from 1991 to 2011. Arbonne became a subsidiary of Levlad, Inc., which became the main manufacturer of Arbonne products around 2004. In 2005, both companies were acquired by Harvest Partners, which dubbed the new acquisition Natural Products Group, LLC. In February 2018, Groupe Rocher, Paris, agreed to acquire Arbonne International and Nature's Gate from Natural Products Group.
The company made $200 million in sales in 2004. In 2005 there were 434,000 independent consultants, increasing to 612,000 in 2006. In 2006, Arbonne established distribution center in Greenwood, Indiana. Bet To be totally honest, when I was very first told about Arbonne a few years ago now, I dismissed it simply as someone wanting to recruit me to one of those Pyramid schemes where even if you sold your soul to the devil you’d get nothing to show for it. You know the ones I mean – where they persuade you to shell out half your life savings on so-called ‘exclusive’ products that no one has ever heard of, much less has any desire to own; whilst at the same time convincing you that working your backside off trying to sell them to all your friends and family is guaranteed to get you rich quick. In reality though, should you actually manage to shift anything, someone you’ve never met pockets pretty much all of the cash, leaving you poorer than when you started. So as you can imagine, my response was something along the lines of ‘no way, absolutely not, not interested in any way thank you very much’. And that was that. I quickly forgot about it, until my good friend Hollie persuaded me to do the 30Days to Healthy Living Plan; I experienced the incredible products, fell in love with the wonderful community, and the rest is (recent) history. First things first. Let me be clear: Arbonne is NOT a Pyramid scheme – those are actually illegal, and are not in any way designed to reward the person doing the selling, let alone give them any job satisfaction; and generally those doing the selling couldn’t care less about the products they’re desperate for you to buy. In a nutshell, the polar opposite is true when it comes to Arbonne. So what is it all about?? THE COMPANY Going back to the first time I was told about Arbonne, I wasn’t given any real information about the vision, ethics, or objectives of the company or its products; and let me say that if I had, it would have made all the difference. Let me enlighten you… Arbonne is a botanically based beauty, health and wellness company with over 35 years of history.
