Real Talk: Tami Chynn, the mother and wife

Hello Real Talkers, our guest this week is none other than the certified diva and model mom, Tami Chynn. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview. It's like she says, "nothing makes for happy parents, like happy people." Tami is definitely a happy person.

Renee: What kind of mother are you?

Tami: I'm pretty strict you know. A lot of people can't imagine that, but if you know me good, you know I am (laughs). Wayne is the soft one. I like discipline a lot. I don't want it to be in a way that it cowers my children down, but I do believe that it is important to have them understand that there are consequences for their actions. And Wayne is a great father too, trust me. I got lucky (laughs).

Renee: What is your most memorable 'mommy moment' to date?

Tami: Oh God, I have them all the time. Even with Gio being a part of my life, he has given me so many memorable mommy moments. Both of my boys do. I can't choose one. I guess it's when they start to communicate with you. Like the other day Jaxen said to me, "Mommy you're my best friend in the whole world." Oh God, I just wanted to die. It's just great.

Renee: You spoke about your stepson, Gio, how do you manage to make a blended family work so well?

Tami: If it wasn't for Regina (Gio's mom) being who she is, for Wayne being who he is and me being, who I am, it wouldn't work. If we were just caught up in ourselves, it wouldn't work. We want the same thing for Gio and the best thing for him. We don't let petty stuff get into our brains. Regina and I talk more than Wayne, we joke about it all the time. It's not always easy, but anybody can make it work, if you want it to work. We're not doing magic here, just take yourself out of it and put your children first.

Renee: What would you say are the most important ingredients of a healthy marriage?

Tami: Communication, it sounds cliche. There is also trust and lots of laughter. We (Wayne and I) r

Memories of momma

We took some time to find a few industry members to share their fondest memories of their mothers. It proved quite challenging for most to state one specific memory, but after a few interviews and a little prodding, they decided to open up about the lady love in their life. Cheers to mothers for the work that they have done and will continue to do.

Tami Chyn

I don't have just one favourite memory of my mom, but I am so lucky to have a mother who is my best friend. There are no secrets between us and even though I am number four of five children, she made us all feel like number one in her life. She has a special way of making anyone in her presence feel loved and important. She is a great woman and I pray to God I am half the mother she is.

Tessanne Chin

One of my favourite memories of my mum is when we would get KFC and drive around looking at big mansions and houses and pick out the ones we liked best and talk about the day I could finally own one. Seems really simple, but she helped teach me how to dream by doing just that one simple thing, and she continues to be a constant supporter and friend. I haven't gotten the house yet, but I am much closer to it.

Brian Lumley

My fondest memories of Ms Lovable are endless, but the one I would share with you is her passion for food and family. When we were kids, no matter how tired she'd be when she got home from work, there was never a frown on her face or a suggestion to order junk food as she cooked us nutritious meals, still completely dressed in her work clothes! I'll never forget that, as I watched her all the time. It inspired me to do what I do today.

Sara Lawrence

Learning motherly skills from her when it came to my child. Our relationship changed once I had Zachary and it was clear the day after I had my son and she just came in and took over and helped me in every way possible. She was just so cool and collected and a great source of knowledge.
