    Biography[]

    Born Sharon Forsmoe in Sioux City, Iowa, she made her acting debut in the 1959 film Kiss Her Goodbye. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Farrell appeared in such films as The Reivers, Marlowe, It's Alive, Night of the Comet, The Stunt Man, Out of the Blue, and Can't Buy Me Love.

    In addition to film work, Sharon also appeared in guest roles on various television shows including Death Valley Days and Hawaii Five-O.

    Her career was tragically interrupted when her heart stopped beating for four minutes during childbirth. She incurred brain damage, and was virtually unable to read, write, or memorize. Her tremendous courage and love of acting propelled her back into a pursuit of her childhood dream. Her complete recovery, after extensive sessions of therapy, during the re-learning process, was hailed as a medical miracle. Sharon returned to acting in the early '70s, her work load increasing as her recovery progressed. In 1991, she joined the cast of the long-running soap operaThe Young and the Restless. She remained with the show until 1999. Sharon's most recent on screen appearance was in an episode of JAG in 1999.

    Sharon has been married three times and has one child, Chance Boyer, with actor John Boyer, whom she never married. She was married to Director/Screenwriter, Dale Trevillion from 1975 to 2006. She is married to Screenwriter, Jessie Young. The couple met and married in 2009, and currently reside on a semi-rural property near Los Angeles, CA.

    Sharon Farrell, The Young and the Restless actress, dies at 82

    Sharon Farrell, the prolific actress best known as the mother to a malicious child in the sci-fi horror movie It's Alive and a scene-stealing star in the soap The Young and the Restless, has died. She was 82.

    Farrell's sister announced the news August 2, writing in a Facebook post, "My sister, Sharon Farrell…Sharon Lee Forsmoe, passed away at L.A. Downtown Medical Center May 15, 2023. I do not know the cause of death."

    Farrell's career, which spanned several decades, included various roles in film and television. After beginning as a ballerina at the American Ballet Theatre, she made her feature film debut in 1959's Kiss Her Goodbye, followed by roles in the drama The Reivers, the neo-noir flick Marlowe, It's Alive, Out of the Blue, and Can't Buy Me Love.

    On television, Farrell had a recurring turn as Detective Lori Wilson in the final season of the original Hawaii Five-O. She then spent several years portraying Florence "Flo" Webster on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. Her list of TV credits runs long and includes parts in My Favorite Martian, Gunsmoke, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Matlock, and JAG.

    'The Young and the Restless' Actress Sharon Farrell Dead at 82

    Sharon Farrell has died at age 82. 

    The Young and the Restless alum’s death was confirmed by Farrell's rep, Dominick Tardive, to PEOPLE. "It was unexpected as she was doing fine and full of life and being her great funny and caring self. She had a great talent as an actress and great career and Hollywood life," he said. "As for her fans I would like them to know if you met her she would be everything you would want her to be in real life, your friend, loving, caring, funny, a mom, a grandma. It was great for us to rep her and know her, I will miss her dearly."

    Farrell's death was first announced on Facebook by her sister, Dale Candace Forsmoe on Aug. 2. “My sister, Sharon Farrell,.,Sharon Lee Forsmoe, passed away at LA Downtown Medical Center May 15, 2023,” she wrote. The sister also added that she did not know Farrell’s cause of death. 

    The announcement came one week after the sister wrote to her Facebook friends, “I have reason to believe my sister, Sharon Farrell, has died, not confirmed yet...no one contacted me.” She added that she was aware Farrell had been in a “care facility.”

    Farrell’s son Chance Boyer confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that his mother died on May 15 “unexpectedly” of “natural causes.” PEOPLE reached out to Boyer for additional comment.
