Address of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, at the opening of “Goddesses” exhibition of artistic jewellery by artist Suzana Mushkolaj

Honourable representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, Honourable Ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic missions, Dear artists, Ladies and gentlemen;

Opening of this exhibition of artistic jewellery, motivated by our “Goddesses” at the Archaeological Museum of Kosovo, is not a coincidence, as “Goddess on the Throne”, the motive of this exhibition, is the most valuable archaeological piece in Kosovo, and a symbol of the cultural and historic identity of our country and our citizens as well.

This very special exhibition of artistic jewellery entwines our valuable cultural heritage, inherited throughout decades and centuries, with elements of modernity.

It is this very intertwining which makes these works of art even more valuable, as they show who we are and what we aim to achieve in the future. As we are also marking the European Heritage Week, through this symbolism tonight, we are also sending out a message stating that Kosovo is and continues to be a nation and a country which has cultivated and continuously protected its tradition and its cultural heritage.

In our country there is room for cultural values and heritage of every single community living in Kosovo. And such piece of work, which comes to us in a format of a universal language, the language of art, by the well know artist Suzana Mushkolaj, presents to the world our values and our cultural traditions, and at the same time presents the creativity of a woman and a renowned artist of our state,

I wish many successes and lots of luck to the artist in the future. I would like to congratulate her on her idea and her important project, not just as a work of art but also for the meaning it carries in itself. I hope that she will continue to present our culture, our heritage, n
