Barry is a real Republican who has and always will fight for liberty over tyranny. He's a pro-life constitutional conservative who believes we must stop illegal entry at our border, secure our elections with fully auditable results for every race and every ballot, eliminate property taxes while limiting the growth of spending by reducing the size of government, promote education freedom, and protect our culture, children, and families.

Barry grew up in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas in the 70s and 80s. His brothers and he were raised by a strong single mother after their father abandoned the family. She made it clear to her four boys that they were not victims. And neither was she. As a single mother with no child support, she led by example, and through hard work and determination, it paid off. She instilled in her children the importance of education, as well as the love for God, country, state, city, and our community. These are the principles that Barry stands by to this day.

Barry went to elementary school at Akiba Academy, before being accepted into St. Mark's School of Texas, where he not only excelled in the classroom, but also in varsity sports, theater, and student government as student council president.

In college, his studies at the University of Texas focused on international relations, Soviet and East European studies, and linguistics. He was selected as one of a select few civilians to study with the US Air Force and Army Russian linguists at Trinity University, later earning a USIA Grant to study at the Moscow Power College in Russia.

Upon graduating college, he moved to Israel where he first worked in dispute resolution for the Ministry of Justice in Jerusalem and fighting bogus claims of Israel's mistreatment of terrorists by agenda-driven leftist organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

He then returned home to Dallas to earn his J.D. from the SMU Dedman School of

Jennifer Harris was 28 when she disappeared on May 12, 2002. Her Jeep was found abandoned on the side of the road. Six days later, a fisherman found her nude body floating in the Red River.

Police learned Jennifer had told at least one other person she was pregnant. Initially, while she was missing, police reached out to the two men in her life – James Hamilton, her ex-boyfriend, and Rob Holman, her ex-husband. Both denied seeing her the night she disappeared.  Both have denied being involved in the murder and neither has been arrested or charged with any crime related to Harris' murder.

The case grew cold and along the way became part of the Bonham folklore – and its rumor mill.

In 2017, then-newly elected Fannin County Sheriff Mark Johnson made good on a campaign promise to take a second look at the Jennifer Harris case. What he found was limited information and some evidence that had been damaged and destroyed by water getting into a storage pod. Johnson says he believes other evidence may have been mishandled.

Daryl Parker, a former sheriff's lieutenant and Marine, is now a private investigator working with Harris' family to find answers. "If anything happens in this case, rain or shine, anytime of day, I'm on it," Parker says.

Also trying to solve the case is Barry Wernick, a filmmaker married to Harris' sister, Alyssa. He began working on the project two years ago. He says he's done interviews with people who were not interviewed by law enforcement early on and is following up on any leads he gets.

"Finding the killer and actually being able to prove who the killer is, will that actually be able to provide closure? Well, yeah, for my family it will," says Wernick.

"It doesn't get any easier," says Alyssa Wernick. "There's not one day that I don't wake up and think about my sister."

Will Parker, Wernick or Sheriff Johnson be able to sol
