    On November 14, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon unveiled the statue of Academician Bobojon Ghafurov in the district of Bobojon Ghafurov.

    The monument of the Hero of Tajikistan, erected in the yard of the Republican Museum of Academician Bobojon Ghafurov, is made of high-quality materials with high art. The height of the statue is meters, and the height of the statue itself is meters. On the left side of the monument, there is an outstanding masterpiece book - "Tojikon" (The Tajiks), which definitely indicates the importance and high value of this creation. High-quality decorative stones were used to decorate the base of the monument using a special architectural style.

    Academician Bobojon Ghafurov is a hero of Tajikistan, political and state figure, outstanding historian, famous Tajik orientalist, doctor of history, professor, distinguished employee of science of the Republic of Tajikistan. He is considered one of the founders of contemporary Tajik science, and with his tireless research, development of the scientific concept of researching the history of the Tajik people, he is undoubtedly considered the founder of the new school of Tajik historiography. The erection of his statue in Bobojon Ghafurov district is a great example of appreciation for this beloved son of the nation and a worthy gift of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dedicated to the th anniversary of the academician.

    Bobojon Gafurov

    Gafurov  Bobojon Gafurovich (b. ; d. ), Tajik statesman, academician, and historian. Gafurov was born in the Ispisar township near Ḵhujand, Tajikistan, and studied law in Samarkand. From on, Gafurov worked as a government official in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, at the same time pursuing his interest in journalism. In , he entered the Institute of Journalism in Moscow, graduating in In , having completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of History, Soviet Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Gafurov defended his thesis “Istoriya sekty ismai’litov s nachala XIX v. do mirovoy voiny gg” (History of the Ismaʿili sect from the beginning of the 19th century to the First World War”). He returned to Dushanbe and served in a number of high administrative positions, becoming eventually Second and then First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Tajikistan. His energy and administrative skills were instrumental in establishing Tajikistan’s first State University in , and in inaugurating its national Academy of Sciences in During this period he published several historical works, and initiated the series “Materialy po istorii tadzhikov i Tadzhikistana” (Materials on the history of the Tajiks and Tajikistan).

    Gafurov’s book, Ta’rikhi muḵtasari ḵalqi tojik (A concise history of the Tajik people), for which he was awarded a doctorate, came out in An expanded version of it was translated into Russian (Istoriya tadzhikskogo naroda v kratkom izlozhenii, Moscow, ; 2nd. ed. ; 3rd. ed. ).

    From to he was the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Soviet Academy of Sciences, Moscow, and during his tenure the Institute expanded in new directions. He was elected a corresponding member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, and later became an academician. He was a founder of the Publishing House for Eastern Literatures, which printed scholarly works on the history, economics, philology, linguistics, religion, and the culture of the countries

    Scientific and practical conference dedicated to the memory of academician Bobojon Gafurov

    On 30 October , by the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation, in cooperation with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a Scientific and Practical Conference dedicated to academician Bobojon Gafurov was held.     

    The conference was attended by poets, writers, scientists, experts and teachers of higher educational institutions of Russia, who took part at the event and gave speeches.

    The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation Mr. Davlatshoh Gulmahmadzoda noted in his opening remarks that the contribution of Bobojon Gafurov in the economic and social development of Tajikistan, advancing modern science and culture of the republic and oriental studies of the XX century was very effective. The chief of diplomatic mission emphasized that Bobojon Gafurov spent his entire life and activity in researching the traditions of Tajik statehood, history of Tajik nation, status and historical place of Tajiks in science, literature, culture and human civilization. Therefore, on 08 September , by the decree of the President of Tajikistan, Bobojon Gafurov was awarded the highest title "Hero of Tajikistan" for his outstanding state activity and great services for the development of science and culture, national self-awareness, sense of pride and patriotism.
